Thurmond
Lake is one of the southeast's great fishing lakes. The waters of
this large, deep lake are filled
with many species of sport fish
including largemouth bass, bream, crappie, sauger, catfish, striped
bass, white bass, hybrid bass and white perch.
Several fish from Thurmond Lake are state record holders in Georgia and South Carolina
Broadus Moody holds the record for the largest Sauger
caught in South Carolina at 4 lb. 7 oz. - set in 1985 ...
the
Georgia record is 4 lbs. 3 oz. set by Stuart Bowers in 1986.
Ralph H. Barbee, Jr. holds the Georgia state record for Blue Catfish at 62 pounds - set in 1979
